FRED-M takes the concept of our FRED Sr one step further. FRED-M is absolutely the most powerful and flexible single forensic workstation available today. FRED-M takes several of the major components in our Data Center solution (FRED-C), and incorporates them into a single chassis for the utmost in storage capacity, power, and flexibility. FRED-M consists of one Forensic Recovery of Evidence Device - Rackmount Module (FRED-RM), one 16 Terabyte RAID module (14TB RAID-5 w/Hotspare), and a retractable keyboard/LCD panel. All equipment is housed in a lockable, vault-like enclosure with high capacity rolling castors.

FRED-M Retractable Keyboard/Mouse/17 inch LCD Display Module
This device is an integrated Keyboard, LCD Display, and Mouse. When the Keyboard/LCD module is not in use, it may be folded down and retracted into the cabinet for storage and security.
FRED-M RAID Array Module
The FRED-M RAID Array Module provides high-speed access of 16 Terabytes (16,000 GB) of online storage (14TB RAID-5 w/Hotspare). This module is a 16-Bay, 3U Rackmount RAID Enclosure which is populated with sixteen 1000 Gb, 7200 RPM hard drives in Hotswap removable drive trays.

FRED-RM (Forensic Recovery of Evidence - Rackmount Module)
The FRED-RM module has the processing functionality of a FRED system integrated into a rackmount module. Although the FRED-RM module is specifically designed to focus on the processing of forensic evidence, it is also capable of acquiring data from IDE/EIDE/ATA/ATAPI/SATA hard drives and devices. The FRED-RM module is equipped with our exclusive UltraBay write-blocked imaging bay which is used for forensically sound (write-blocked) acquisition of Parallel IDE, Serial ATA, and SCSI devices! The FRED-RM Module will also acquire data from 3-1/2 inch floppies, Multimedia cards, CD-ROM, and DVD-ROM media.

The UltraBay II provides both dedicated Write Protected USB and FireWire ports, as well as dedicated
Read/Write USB and FireWire ports.
SATA/IDE/SCSI ports can be temporarily switched between Write Blocked (Read-Only) and Read/Write modes via LCD/keypad configuration. To maximize forensic safety, the UltraBay II automatically reverts to Write-Blocked mode at power-up and after a drive is detached:
The SATA/IDE/SCSI ports auto-configure to Write Protected (Read-Only) mode at every power up.
The SATA/IDE/SCSI ports may be manually configured to allow Read/Write operation using the
front panel LCD Control after a drive is connected.
The SATA/IDE/SCSI ports automatically revert to Write Protected (Read-Only) operation after the drive is removed.
The UltraBay II has both FireWire800 and SATA internal connections to the FRED System for write blocked services. Future firmware updates will allow simultaneous connection and smart inter-operation between FW800 and SATA interfaces for maximum aggregate performance and functionality.
Firmware updates available at no charge through Tableau Firmware Update. Unlike less-functional
integrated solutions, all firmware updates can be applied using existing communication channels and do not require labor-intensive temporary re-cabling of the forensic workstation.

The USB 2.0 write-blocked port has same range of device support as The UltraBlock USB (T8). Additionally, the USB implementation is about 25-35% faster than the standalone UltraBlock USB (T8).
FireWire write-blocked port has 9-pin FW800 connector and supports both FW400 and FW800 devices.
The UltraBay II is supported by Tableau Disk Monitor application.
The UltraBay II is supported by Tableau "tabphys" library. This will allow it to be recognized by Encase upon release of the updated Encase imager by Guidance Software.
The UltraBay II is exclusively available with select Digital Intelligence FRED systems and is not available separately or from any other source.
